IPL, or “intense pulsed light” therapy is a groundbreaking approach to enhancing skin quality and tone. Exposure to the sun’s UV rays affects DNA and cell growth, leading to a range of skin conditions including sun spots, age spots, uneven tone, and texture.
IPL therapy is an advanced skin repair treatment that works by targeting melanin, the skin pigment. The treatment is different from laser therapy, as it involves delivering several wavelengths of intense pulses of light to the skin, treating several skin conditions at once, without disrupting the skin surface, with fast healing.

- Age spots, sun spots
- Uneven skin tone
- Reddened skin tone
- Stretch marks
- Spider veins
What is it Like to Get an IPL Treatment?
IPL therapy is not difficult to experience. You will be resting comfortably while our qualified, certified expert delivers the treatment. You will be equipped with special glasses, so your eyes are protected. You can expect a procedure about 30 minutes long. You will feel the application of light energy on your skin, with a mild snapping sensation on the surface.
After Your IPL Treatment - What to Expect
Following your treatment, your skin may look and feel like you have a mild sunburn. This will fade within a day or two. You can help your skin recover by applying ice. The treated area of your skin will flake, with the darkened tissue rising to the surface to be naturally shed.
During healing, ensure you protect your skin with sunscreen and avoid sun exposure for at least one month. Keep your skin moisturized, avoid strenuous exercise, and some other treatments that can impact the skin surface for the prescribed time advised by Dr. Banerji and his team.
How Many IPL Treatments Will Work Best for My Skin?
Every person is unique, and the number of treatments you need may range from three to six, delivered every four weeks. At Banerji Plastic Surgery, our approach is 100 percent customized to the individual, and after evaluating your skin and discussing your concerns, we can advise you of the number of treatments we predict will produce the best results. Dr. Banerji is a young, board-certified plastic surgeon with an uncommon dedication to his patients, and a support team that goes above and beyond in patient care.
